• PTA NEWS 19th September 2023

An excellent start to the 2023/2024 PTA with a good turn out for the the AGM. We extended warm welcomes to the new parent and carers joining the school and bid a farewell to the year 6 pupils that have flown the Topsham nest on to various secondary schools.

The AGM is a time to reflect on fund raising last year and what we can do better or change, and a time of planning new events or setting dates for those that consistently bring funds to the school. Meeting at Topsham School and powered by tea/coffee/wine/biscuits and nibbles the PTA members read through the financial reports and signed them off, and received a report from the Chair, the Treasurer and the Head Teacher. New committee members were approved and then it was on to the spending ideas for funds for the school.

With a cost of living crisis in the forefront of our minds and how this may impact on fundraising, we looked at ways to gain additional funding through grants and in October will know if our Co-Op application was successful. With a healthy balance we have a good start to the year and hope to continue this to benefit all children through contributions to trips, residentials, and equipment.

Pancake Flip Sponsorship Forms
Hopefully you will have found the sponsorship form for the 2023 Pancake Flip in your school bags, if
you canโ€™t find it please contact your class rep who can send you a digital copy. We would like each
student to ask their friends and family to sponsor them. On Tuesday 21 st February, each class will
complete a 1 minute pancake flip challenge. This will take place during the school day, organised by
the class teachers. Last year this was โ€˜flippingโ€™ good fun! The students turned out to be surprisingly
good at it and a huge amount of money was raised. The most successful flippers from each class will
receive a prize and every student will take home a certificate to celebrate the number of flips they
completed. Thank you in advance for supporting this event. All sponsorship money needs to be
handed in by Monday 27 th February โ€“ either to your class teacher or via online payment. Please see
the sponsorship form for more details.

Save the Date
Our next meeting will take place at The Globe on Tuesday 7 th March at 8.00pm. However, the most
important date to save is Friday 24 th March โ€“ Quiz Night!!
