What do the PTA funds go towards, and how does it benefit the pupils at Topsham School?
Your committee has to spend its funds in line with the objects of the association, as stated in the constitution. These are usually something like advancing the education of the children at the school or developing effective relationships between home and school.
Your money goes towards:
- Educational materials (books, classroom equipment, sports equipment)
- School trips
- Playground equipment
- School renovation projects
- School costs
Supports Learning
Your PTA supports learning by funding technology, books, art supplies, science equipment, or even items for our outdoor learning.
School Improvement
Topsham PTA also spent money on school improvement for example library seating and furniture. One of the most commonly funded is playground improvement such as the Key Stage 1 painted play areas and the ever-popular wooden climbing frame.
Materials – Gardening
Your PTA supports learning by funding materials like this gardening set for outdoor learning about environment and the life cycle of plants.
Materials – Cookery
Topsham PTA also spent money on school learning materials for the cookery room enabling there to be lots of weights and measuring equipment to link to the children’s maths learning.
Sports and Activities
The running club set-up costs were covered by PTA funds. Started before Covid, the running club continued when socially distanced exercise was encouraged. Not only was this great for health but the pupils’ mental health also. A nominal fee per pupil gives many the chance to not only keep healthy but can inspire children to be resilient during training.
Sports and activities are often fundraised for; like sports kits, equipment, playground toys, and even swimming lessons to name a few.
Things To Do
Subsidised transport enabled a safe and comfortable trip for the Year 6 trip to Dartmoor. PTA funds enabled Topsham School to keep transport costs at a minimum for all parents and carers of its pupils.
Money goes towards things to do and can help support learning such as visits from authors, a trip to the theatre, a panto visit, or even a day at the zoo.
Fun Extras
Last but not least there are always fun extras that can enhance the experience of each child; Christmas goodies, Easter eggs for a treasure hunt, ice lollies on sports day, rainy day games, leavers’ gifts, and a top-up of fruit every week.
